I wouldn`t recommend the steak pie at the Brook, I had it last time were there and the largest piece of steak in it was the size of my little finger nail, seemed to be trimmings off steak rather than actual pieces of steak. Very disappointing. The husband had duck, which was very nice and the son had steak, which was very good, but the daughter`s lasagne was dry and she left most of it. We have said next time we go to Boot, we will make the effort to drive the short distance to the King George and eat there, as they seem to do the best meals lately.
No problem Tigermouse. If you find yourself in Gosforth, you should try the pies in the village bakery, home made on the premises and we think they are the best in the area lol.
On the Eskdale site they sell the Cumberland sausage from Bewley`s butchers in Bootle, we maintain that their sausage is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the Woodall`s Cumberland sausage from Waberthwaite that everyone seems to hear more about. It`s our favourite breakfast when at Eskdale I even buy more sausage to bring home with me
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
The Woolpack have their own pizza oven now and you can get them to takeaway, they seemed to be a popular evening meal when we were there as well. We have said next time we go we are going to pick one up for supper and eat it back on site with salad and a nice glass of wine ................... hopefully outside on a nice warm, evening, but more than likely inside while watching the rain through the window if this weather carries on
Bay View at Bolton le Sands is a good site with excellent facilities. They have an "emergency" shower and toilet block that they open up when the site is busy and the other blocks are stretched. Nice bar/restaurant with home cooked food and a small shop. It is right on the coast and not too far to walk to the pubs in Bolton le Sands and Carnforth.
