We went to watergate bay last year. It is a good well kept kept site, as I said though the area with the super pitches (where we were) was more crowded than other areas. The pool is excellent, the refurbished bar was good (but dogs not allowed :-( so we didn't go in there much so can't say what the entertainment was like, but there was something going on most nights). The dog exercise area is a great big space for off lead runs. If your kids like scooters/skateboards then they'll love the skate park, it took just 1 day for my son to look like he'd been run over! Don't forget body boards/surf boards and wetsuits too! You Can walk to the beach and also join the sw coastal path just off the site. The beach just up the road mawgan porth is good too so give that a try as well as watergate bay. Both beaches are dog friendly. Also, the airplanes coming into the airport are nothing to worry about - one day the whole red arrows flew in out of the airport over the site! I think you will enjoy it, we did. We also prefer sites that are tourers/tents site only. We arrived just after the heat wave, but the weather was ok. We have decided to go further down to st Ives this year and going to Polmanter, yes this is more expensive than we paid at watergate bay, I guess we'll have to see if it's worth it - it seems popular despite its price. We were thinking of France, but the ferry costs (longer crossings), kids new passports, kennel costs or dog passport costs and additional time/cost getting there, especially to get far enough down that the weather has significant increased reliability of sunny compared with Southern England put us off.

Some of our friends go to the south of France and even Spain almost every year. I am struggling to see the fun in towing the caravan all that way and would prefer to go on a plane holiday if looking to travel that far. Each to their own though, our friends love it.
