The Isle of Wight is lovely. We've stayed at Appuldurcombe twice.
Big Al - we've also visited in September and had good weather so fingers crossed for you too! We also travelled with Red Funnel from Southampton.
Make sure you pick up Red Funnels own tourist guide brochure/booklet on the ferry over as it'll give you ideas for days out and there may be some money off coupons/reduced admission etc.

Rides heaven forbid, in my day it was a walk through with a few statues, dinosaurs and such is the crooked house still there, that was about as posh as it got.
But some things don't change, we used to pester our parents from the very first day, when are we going to Blackgang Chine , when are we going to Blackgang Chine used to have to visit at least twice every trip.
Also the first thing we did off the ferry before even heading to the campsite, was go to Browns boating lake, they used to make their own ice-cream. Can't believe what a dump that part of Sandown is now.
Another must was one of the huge puddings they used to do at the Buddle Inn.
The Red funnel camping deal is pretty good, as to be honest it's the ferry crossing price that puts me off nowadays
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
