Hollingworth Lake near Rochdale, on the edge of the Pennines. Plenty of local pubs.

Also Bolton le Sands, we use Red Bank Farm, walks along the canal and shore, see the sun set over the sea for a change.

Another vote for west runton. Moorland park at aylmerton (adult only) is just round the corner from roman camp which is in the woods and you can walk in various directions tto west runton, Cromer, sherringham etc

Devizes C & C C site - its next to the canal where you walk the Caen Hill Locks to Devizes, 8 mile round trip to the left on the towpath - turn right & a short way down is The Barge Inn on the Canal - at the entrance to the site is a pub with lovely food that allows dogs in the bar

Green caravan park, Wentnor, Shropshire. Lots of walks up the Long Mynd or Stiperstones. Pub and shop right by the site, and another pub on your way back down from the long Mynd.

Hi Chris

How about Small Batch, Shropshire? Walking around this area is great. Nearby and better known Church Stretton is a 'Walkers are Welcome' town.

Lots of other great suggestions in your replies - going to have to have a good look at those myself!

Good times and great adventures await...

Cae Du campsite, Beddgelert in North Wales. There is a choice of places to eat and drink in the village, which is about a fifteen minute walk along a lovely riverside path. A bit more than a three hour drive but a beautiful walking area and well worth it!
