no lady margarets isn't the one I was referring to, I was talking about a site in Llangollen itself, its right on the canal path, behind the eistedfford building, you actually go thr the car park and then over the bridge to get in the site, although we have been to lady margarets twice and it lovely, but terrible tv reception and very very cold if you get on the outside near the trees, best to park on the grass in the middle the sun reaches you then
We stayed at a great new site near Stratford upon Avon last weekend adjacent to the end of The Greenway cycle path with is a traffic free flat cycle route into Stratford upon Avon (Approc 6 miles) the site is slightly odd as it is part of a leisure centre on a new housing development near long Marston (Meon Vale) hard standing caravan pitches plus a camping field. good clean facilities and is only £15 per unit per night including electric.
There is also a well stocked Londis convenience store within a few hundred metres.
The name of the development / leisure centre is Meon Vale.
------------- It's only an expensive hobby when it's parked on your Drive....use it, love it , live it.
The caravan clubs site at wirral country park Thurstaston has spectacular views over the river Dee to north wales, loads to do in the area, North Wales, Chester, Liverpool.
the site is next to a disused railway track that has been rolled flat and runs around the coast of wirral for 22 miles
the good points are its all flat and nearly all off the road, look up the reviews for the site
I second Fiona's post re the Cairngorms - Glenmore site or Rothiemurchus sites have cycle tracks to suit all abilities running in all directions. Add to that the wow factor in terms of scenery. Also would be hard to beat for walking and the range of other outdoor activities. A fabulous area. I love it.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Now had time to copy all this valuable info. We can and do, travel all over the UK and so the Cairngorms advice is great as we have less knowledge of Scotland as yet! Again thanks to all.
------------- cramming for my finals in the twilight zone
Naburn lock at York . About 5 miles to city centre along old railway line. Riverboat also runs from site to Kings Arms on certain days if you want to save those legs
Fernlea CL, Errol is midway between Perth & Dundee on the cycle route and is flat all the way to Dundee. Ideal for Motorhomes also as the bus route is 20 yards away and the village within 1 mile.
