We stayed at Smithy Croft this summer and would second contacting the owners. They were lovely friendly folk who returned from a break away in their caravan whilst we were there. I took a handful of photos from the caravan but not of the hedge! We were on the first pitch (nearest to the buildings/furthest from the main road) and from memory had a good view from our back window of the fields to the south.

We were on the pitch nearer to the gate and lamp post that you can see in Iain's picture. Less foliage there behind the caravan (which I think is south). I think the buildings next to the road in the picture of the view from the van are Tyrie school - which is labelled on Google maps satellite view.

I've just realised where you're taking about. I drive past it going to Fraserburgh (known locally as 'The Broch'). It's about 5 miles from the Broch and 10 miles from me in the other direction.
