Many sites that have laundry machines also offer tokens for the machines, the cost of which usually includes a wash tab.

Only do a wash on main hols (usually a fortnight or so, and ergo, usually in France).
Never for short breaks. (Towels go on a guyline. Laundry gets bagged up to take home.)

Some mighty fine examples of washing lines here. Not all in use at time of pics, sadly, and most almost seem to be muscling in on pics of other things, loitering around in the background, but one masterpiece in particular appears to be the actual centre of attention and the main subject matter... and rightly so, to be fair., at 8m long, with central support!

On a serious note, Washing lines can be highly dangerous, particularly when empty, and particularly concerning elderly campsite owners on bicyclettes who are keen to keep their heads attached to their shoulders, so give serious consideration as to where you site them, and if at all possible, make them hi-viz/reflective. Point in case shown clearly on the final pic...

We always put a washing line up somewhere if we can. Strong washing line cord looped around a tree & tensioned with a ratchet strap around another suitably distant tree or post. Or tie from tree to caravan grab handle using bungee cord if nothing else. First thing I look for on a pitch is washing line potential.

In reserve we carry a clothes airer which has the advantage of being moved into sun. I just wash clothes towels sheets as needed in a bucket using cheap bio liquid which has the advantage of use in the toilet as well instead of toilet blue so 1 bottle does for both.

Handy household hint from our days camping in France. Did you know that you can ‘spin’ your undies and socks in one of those spinners you use for washing and drying lettuce?

Sorry, no. Life’s too short. I don’t spin my lettuce, because I don’t have room for a big piece of plastic in the MH cupboard.
Nice idea back at home maybe.

I have a washing machine at home, spins really well. Holiday washing goes in a washer too. Swimmers drip dry.

Same here in that I do not carry a salad spinner in my van.

I recently bought a smaller collapsible colander as the one I already have from my tenting days is too large to store neatly in the under-sink cupboard.

With 5 of us camping for at least a week, and usually 3 at a time there is no way we can manage without a wash on holiday. Doesn't bother me, I find it quite relaxing, it's not like I'm having to put a wash on and run to work.

We use a washing machine on the campsite, or find a launderette nearby. We try not to tumble dry it unless the weather is poor, and we have a camping rotary drier purchased from the likes of Aldi/Lidl some 10 years ago. This is also useful for swimmers/towels/wetsuits.

I will often do a wash at the site as we leave, it seems to fit in well with the timings of packing up the tent. At least then, I can put the clean clothes straight away when we get home, rather than be faced with a mountain after arriving home.
