I would not go to a Haven site for that reason Tony, to many kids that are so badly behaved with no parental control. At least my dogs are nice and don't make loads of noise.

Funtime campers, we have had staffies for 15 years. At the moment we have an 8 yr old bitch and in 3 weeks we get a 6 week old white pied male puppy. We had staffs before the kids and i can say they are the most gentle breed of dog with children and i totally agree when you say it is unfair to judge these dogs as a 'dangerous breed' it is a fact the majority of owners are very responsable people and therefore bring their saffs up in a loving family home.
Many times i see smaller breeds of dogs ie...yorkies that do nothing but bark and growl everytime someone walks past their caravan. My dog sits quiet and minds her own business and certainly does not interfere with other dogs unless they interfere with her.
All the reactions i have to my dog are extremley positive and she gets spoilt rotten with the amount of fussing she gets when people approach her.

my staffie is 12 now and he still loves hugs and cuddles. the kids spoil him rotten, although can spmetimes can get a bit rough with him but he still doesnt bother. such a great natured breed. couldnt ask for a better dog.

All i can say is my dog's are better behaved then most kids on haven sites and 1 of my dogs is nortey but is kept on her lead at all times unlike some of the kid's
i wouldnt be so cruel as to subject my dog to a haven site theyre crap! we only went to one once and we were stuffed between two other outfits on pitches that couldnt have been the safe distance apart, it was packed and full of loud noisy mouthy people and we couldnt wait to leave. they sent us a leaflet today showing a touring van and quoting "if youve got one of these why not swop it for one of these" and then had a picture of a static which just goes to show what they think of tourers!
Haven sites are the pits the toilets and showers are disgusting add to that they are way overpriced,I have yet to see one with decent toilet & shower facilities for tourers & campers. The last one at Filey was disgusting.
I've received those flyers to Denandy just put them into the recycling bin. I cannot understand why people actually go there in their van or tent I would rather take my kids somewhere nice for the day from a decent site than pay their prices. We have been in a static before we bought the van but never that keen.
I have just returned from a Haven site where my daughter got bit by a dog which is not in the breeds mentioned I have a jack russell which we chose to leave at home with her nanna. People say they are nasty but out of 5 jacks we have had as you say it is they way they are brought up not the breed. The dog my daughter got bit by was a family pet that had been left tied up while the owners went out so maybe stronger guidelines on sites that allow pets.

Only go to sites that welcome dogs - our x breed is a little sweety. Took her to the show at the Lawns yesterday and she was given all sorts of goodies. The reps on various stands seemed to be more interested in making friends with her than in trying to sell stuff to us!!
Actually, she is better off financially than I am as she has no debts - she probably has a better credit rating than me!!!!!!!!
Lynles sorry to hear about your daughter I hope she is ok now. It is such a shame when this kind of thing happens that dog should never have been left like that. Why take it on holiday to leave it all day tied up. But we must remeber not to tar every dog own with the same brush...some of us are good dog owners. We take our dogs with us on holiday (not haven type sites) and they are part of the holiday we try to arrange places to visit where dogs will enjoy themselves too, if we have to we either leave them in the caravan or in the landie for a short time and even then hubby usually goes back and gives them a short walk, would never dream of leaving them tied up outside the van when we were out.....very irresponsible.
As I say I have my own dog and it is definately how you bring them up she is a jack russell that runs around my back garden with our rabbits but sadly she is an absolute nightmare in the car so thats why we cant take her with us.
When I was a child my parents and my dads sister had Jack Russels. My parents breed one litter. The mum was a gentle thing very good, each of the litter (six pups) were all different. One of the pups was returned as he was so naughty and my parents exchanged him for another pup who was quieter. They kept a pup who I would say was an inbetween always digging holes but would always come back.
