Having a time limit of 4 hours from where you live gives you lots of options. Its a case of can't choose can't choose!!!! Whst are you looking for? scenery- lakes yorkshire dales or culture York, Durham Chester? You must be really looking forward to you first trip with your new van. We got a new Elddis in June and I can never wait until the next trip. We had 3 weeks in France in July just had a long weekend at Strid Wood Bolton Abbey in the Dales and have booked 6 days in Chertsey (on Thames) for Oct half term , then 3 days in Lincoln at the begining of Dec for the Christmas market. If we can snatch a night here and there in between all these we will do. I  read practical caravan and "out and about" magazine like other people read novels and I am always either on a jaunt or planning one!!

Roll on retirement then we can go all the time!!

Hi,

We also went away in November and once a month right through last winter with no problems. Usually look for hard standing and hookup.

Found a nice site near Ingleton, would recommend the waterfall walk, Also stayed near Whitby, very nice area but was pretty cold.

Have just spent the weekend at Carsington Water near Ashbourne and travelled back through Matlock Bath and Bakewell which where absolutely heaving and decided to revisit out of season.

Hereford is also a nice area and within easy distance of the Wirral (my base as well by the way). Have a great time, we always do.

You can see just by reading these posts that more and more people are choosing to take their vans and motorhomes out in the winter time these days. I cannot understand why some people put theirs away for the winter especially as all modern vans have excellent heating sytems installed. No point spending all that money and then putting them into hibernation is there? I can understand the reluctance for some people not wanting to brave the icy roads, espcially after a bad fall of snow but providng the roads are not too hazardous I think everyone should make the most of all the seasons and enjoy the experience. If there is more demand for winter campsites then more might stay open. Having said that - I am sure I have heard somewhere that campsites that stay open all year have to have a special licence - is this correct?

You'll be able to camp all year now in your new van... we like the look of the new Bailey and are going to the Lawns next weekend to view - not changing this year though as ours is only 2 and it would get upset.  Love the new layout though.

Happy camping

Hi

We have just received Planning Permission to open for 10 months of the year on our touring field - so are open until 15 January.   Although we might be too far for you in Devon.

Hi Su.

We love your area of the country - so hopefully one day we may give your campsite a visit. Do you accept motorhomes? Have you got a website? If so give me your website adddress and I will take a look and store it in my favourites.

Have you had your business for long or is it you that has just bought a camspite? I recall reading a post recently on ukcs about someone who had recently taken over a campsite. If it is a new business then I wish you every success and if it is a long standing one I wish you continued success.

All the best.

Hi Sonesta

Yes we take motorhomes.

Our website address is - chivenorcaravanpark.co.uk (you can also find us on UKCS)

We bought our site two years ago (and love every minute of being here).  It was an established site, but I have a very long wish list - not too many changes - but subtle ones.

From reading the varied posts on this site gives us ideas for our site - believe me owners of campsites do listen  - this is the best site for that sort of thing.

Happy motorhoming..............Su

Hello again Mark, yes bridge house marina is on the lancaster canal and the site is within the marina.Lovely walk along the canal into Garstang with its many pubs and quaint narrow streets called wiends, there is a small market hall which sells local produce. There are 2 pubs within 5 minutes of the site both do reasonable meals, but our favourite is T'owd Tithe Barn which is right on the canal in Garstang, give it a go you wont be disapointed.
