You couldn't be a little biased, could you, Katie?

Hi All - We are just about to book a little Site at Stepaside, Pembrokeshire. We prefer non-comercialised Sites & surroundings, so hope we have made a good choice, having never been to this area before. Apparantly there are at least two beaches nearby that allow dogs ...........after all, we bought the caravan for the dogs - so their beach holiday is important 'isn't it????

I have total faith in your impartiality, Katie. (My first wife was from Weymouth. I don't know if that's a recommendation or not. Nice beach, though.)

I would recommend Bank Farm, it is my favourite site. We have been going there for many years, we even had a permanent pitch for our tourer a few years ago. (Foolishly gave it up when the older kids no longer wanted to come with us, but were too young to be trusted at home alone.) The statics are all privately owned, and in a seperate field from tourers and tents. The pitch sizes are generous and not marked out like some sites. The view is fantastic.  Showers are hot and free and have been updated in recent years and are very good standard. The swimming pool is now covered, and also free to use. Horton Beach, just down the hill from the site, is one of the few beaches on the Gower Coast that allow dogs in summer. There is also a dog walking field on the site. Another point is, if you are a caravan /camping club member, both clubs often hold rallies and holiday meets here at much cheaper rates than the site fees.  I think it's the south/west wales district association. Booking well in advance is advisable for bank holidays, and although they have the fullybooked signs up, there always seems to be plenty of room in the fields. have I sold it to you yet?

I've booked 2 weeks at Trefalun.
We have stayed at statics near to Tenby a few years ago and it was lovely. The beaches are very nice, and seem more dog friendly than Devon/Cornwall areas. Mind you, we aren't taking our dog this time as she is too old and we daren't risk it, she's staying with my Dad!
Manorbier is worth a visit, and Tenby has loads of shops for the kids.
The lady at Trefalun was really helpful, but did advise us to book quickly as they were filling up. The site looks great, doesn't it?

Actually we have booked Sunday to Sunday as we don't like to travel on Saturdays either.
There is lots to do in wales, honestly!
We have 3 kids of different ages and they have always enjoyed it. But we definitely don't like to book sites with entertainment either, it's a chance to have a bit of 'family time'.

Got to go along with Happy Camper when she says all of Cymru is beautiful and the folks are welcoming. We've been all over and hoping to get back to Snowdonia this year but it will follow a week in the south first. There are plenty places to go and sights to see, be it the Red Kites over the Elan Valley, a ride up Mount Snowdon on the train or a visit to the Grand Theatre in Swansea. We always stay at Riverside, just of J45 M4, not everybodies cup of tea as it can get quite noisey in the high season but we find it is geographically ideally placed for us as we visit friends and relatives in Swansea and are able to visit 'Out of season' at least twice during the year and sometimes 3 times although it is 278 miles from our house. The only thing we found to be anti social about North Wales was next door's cockerel kicking of at 4 in the morning whilst staying at Snowdonia Parc.

FAO Scarlett's Fan if you read this, hope your team is doing well, got to get to an Osprey's match when I'm there in the autumn as havn't seen inside the new stadium yet.

Incidently, the OH is  Swansea born and bred and I first went there in 1952 and been going back ever since.................Mick
