I love to see the children and our dog running around and having fun (and tiring themselves out). Can't just let them out at home because we live on a busy road.

And of course a nice beer in the evenings

Sitting in the awning in the evening with a glass of something just watching the world go by.  It's like being outdoors and indoors at the same time.

The smell of the fresh air in the morning, closley followed by the smell of bacon and coffee.  The air being cold and being nice and warm in the sleeping bag.  My kids getting to run round getting dirty and being kids.  A glass of wine/ bottle of beer at the end of the day in the fresh air.

The smell of the canvas when the tent is up. The smell of bacon cooking, bbq smells drifting across the camp site. The sunsets with a glass of wine, kids running around and having fun and the sound of rain on the tent when trying to get to sleep at night. Sitting outside the tent first thing watching the wildlife with a cup of coffee. I have just gone to heaven

Waking up early in the morning to the sound of birds, sheep, cows, campers snoring in their tents, and sitting with the first brew of the day watching rabbits scurrying about.

Sitting outside the tent first thing in the morning, with a cuppa, and nobody looking at you as if you've totally lost it.
Not caring what I look like (not that I do anyway).
Not being tied to time - a big plus!
Kids playing happily with other kids on site - often with the older ones keeping an eye on the younger ones.
The list goes on and on.

And people think I'm crazy for going camping.

The freedon to choose a site which is all singing and dancing or has nothing on it - depending on what type of holiday you choose.
The ability to go for a weekend, a few days mid week a full week or longer - unlike booking accomodation - even selfcatering when the times you are allowed to book for are far stricter.
Being at a site 30 minutes away from home, yet feeling as if you are a million miles away.

Seeing more of England in the past 12 months than in the last 36 years. The freedon to just hook up the caravan and go, anywhere in the UK. Spending quality time with my family rather than son on computer, hubby doing DIY, me cleaning and little girl complaining about being 4 yrs old and not old enough to play out.

Peace, quiet and lovely surroundings - and the smell of bacon cooking in the mornings.
