I think nikki was only stating what makes sense to most of us anyway. If you are paying for an electric hookup, why let the electric go to waste and pay again by using gas? We never have a pitch unless it has EHU, and when we arrive, the fridge is turned to electric and we use the electric kettle. Yes we do have other electric appliances such as the TV or DVD player but we never have them on for the sake of it. Presumably sites set their charges so that no one is running more than the charge will cover. The only extra thing we use the EHU for that the majority of people don't, is for charging my scooter batteries, which certainly don't overshoot the cost charged by the site for one nights EHU. Besides which, they are essential to me. IMO if you still use your gas when you are paying for the EHU (other than for appliances that are gas only) then it's rather pointless having it, and you might as well move on to a non-serviced pitch and let someone else who may be wanting an EHU pitch have it.
