Hi
We've just got back from Rowntree Park with our 5 year old. We wanted to leave the car and walk so:
We did Cliffords Tower, Castle Museum, York Dungeon and shopping on Saturday.
Jorvik Centre (really good), more shopping and a River Cruise Sunday.
Did the Railway Museum last time, you can spend a whole day there.
Theres loads to do, and most of it is family orientated, some of it is a bit expensive but what the heck, if you are a member of the CC, their "Member Offers" has some vouchers for discounts.
HTH
Paul

If the York dungeon is on a par with the Edinburgh dungeon then it is a complete waste of money and completely over priced. My 10 year old son enjoyed it but my 9 year old daughter felt sick and we had to come out half way round - this after we had queued for an hour and a half. We had some half price tickets and more - it was still £17!! Complete rip off - just a load of wannabe actors and not much real stuff at all - jokes inappropriate for kids really - at one point I got soaked 'cos of where I was sitting. Shop full of occult junk - the whole thing was completely uneducational and just supposed entertainment. You have to experience it to wonder how they get away with it really - it relys on audience participation - I got put in the dock where they did a mock trial - good job I have a sense of humour!
Years ago we went to the London dungeon - no actors then - just lots of "instruments" with lots of educational material - not sensational.
After that ramble - when we went to York we stayed at Goosewood - lovely and went on park and ride into York where we went in the Castle museum, Cliffords Tower, Jorvic and wandered about. There is also the Minster, railway museum - ooh when we went in from the park and ride we were on a bendy bus which the kids thought great!
