me and my daughter have been body boarding since she was 4 providing you keep to the lifeguard patrolled beaches and follow their guidance you should be fine. I don;t know what the surf and tides are like at St Ives but the lifeguards will. follow their advice.

Hi Kim,

Can recommend Holywell Bay beach for fantastic body-boarding. About 5 miles or so east of Newquay. You can hire wet suit & board from campsite of same name which is very close to the beach,,£10 per day, they have a surfing school based there.

Beach has full life guard cover, and also has a surfing rescue school based there. So they know what they are doing !!

Hi Kim

There are no safe waters, please educate yourself to the ways of the seas and tides and you will be OK. There can be rips anywhere, you and the kids need to able to spot the danger signs and\or only use your boards where the life guards have staked out the safe swim area, I would suggest the latter.

That said, hope you have a great time with the kids and safe boarding!!
