But because the CC do not take deposits I've heard they have a lot of no shows - people who book almost every weekend right at the beginning of the season and then don't turn up for most of them which means that the site appears to be fully booked when in fact there is space - that can't be fair. At least if people have paid a deposit they are likely to turn up unless they have a very good reason not to.

CC sites do not have to allow for ginormous tents that take up a pitch and a half as they dont take tents on most of their sites. Maybe that is why the C&CC have to allocate pitches.

The CCC have about 100 sites with about 90 taking caravans, the CC have about 200 sites with about 70 taking tents. Looking at these figures the CC have almost as many sites taking tents as the CCC.

Yes, but that statistic is a bit misleading.  On the CC sites that allow tents, they are usually (if not always?) confined to a specific designated area, they don't get to use the same pitches as other users.
