last time we went we got a discount by becoming members of Forest Holidays and if you phoned your booking you could get a further discount for being over 50 (i think) That was in 2007, so i don't know if it still applies.

I told her Ladyship that she gets a discount as she's over the magic number (50 or whatever it was) but her cruel, withering look made me wonder if I better not mention it again...ever...at all...in the history of the planet

Just back from Christchurch, lovely site I have submitted review so should appear soon. Bracelands was closed when we were there due to being water logged so we didn't get a good look around, however it was quite a bit futher down the road from christchurch and more in the forest area, when we took a walk down that way we spotted two deer and squirrels. We will be going back again as we enjoyed area so much.
INina - I've just seen this- thanks for the feedback
I think you'd have to pick some good weather then if you want to pitch at Bracelands. And having had a recent bad experience on a hardstanding pitch I think if we go it'll be Christchurch.
It sounds lovely. Just one thing though - was Christchurch "exposed to the elements" at all? I was just wondering as it sounds like Bracelands might be more sheltered.

We tried to make a return visit to Hollands Wood in the New Forest in early October but when we arrived we were told that they couldn't accept anyone else as the site was flooded due to the storms earlier in the day. Unfortunately many of the sites in the Forest were in the same position, but many of those that were on higher ground didn't cater for tents (2 man dome) and only allowed you on if you had your own "toilet facilities".
I think it's worth noting that nearly all the sites here are only bookable through the one central reservation office.
