I've noticed that the type referred to here
'Perhaps the camp owners only vet campers on that week so the don't get any dreadlocked new age types'
are usually the ones who clear up and show some respect for everyone around them if they are given the same.
If we all try to 'breath in peace & breath out love' the world will be a much better place, (plus the fact that you wouldn't need to get uptight.
Bright Blessings

To Riff and anyone else in need of some serious chilling ,,,,,,,Why not head for the 'Gathering on the Hill' c/o www.Volkswigan.co.uk a plesant weekend away at a sencible price on the August bank hoilday weekend,,,,,,,,£3 pere unit per night including entertainment.
As it say's it's a chill out weekend set in a 350 acre site , at a reasonable cost,,,,,,,so why pre book and be judged before you turn up,,,,,,,,come and have a ball with us.
We only have one rule,,,,,,,,if you make a mess before you go , you won't be invited ever again .
Regards
Bill,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

<DIV>Has anyone ever had to pass any special "test" to get on a campsite? We are travelling to Pooley Bridge at the weekend to (hopefully) attend a nearby festival and I have NEVER had a campsite owner "have to have a look" at me before letting me on! The two couples we are going with are in their mid-thirties, as are we, and the single girl is 29. We aren''t a rowdy bunch, but do like a beer. The fact we are not taking kids with us seems to count against us! Only one of the couples has actually got round to having kids so far! To make matters more complex, we are all arriving at different times due to work commitments. We have tented all over the UK, but never encountered anything like this. Below is a copy of the e-mails bounced back and forth between my (tut-tut) single mate and fiance. Obviously, the first mailing is the bottom one! "<FONT face=Tahoma size=2>-----Original Message-----

Subject: Weekend Rang them up again today, managed to get through. Insist on not taking booking for tents, just turn up. Sounded a bit awkward when I said 3 couples & 1 single girl. They said turn up, but if they don''t like the look of us, they''ll not allow us in!! Was she joking, I don''t know, sounded a bit reluctant when I mentioned numbers. Yet reading the reviews, it sounds that couples are allowed in as well as families or is that only during the off peak season?<SPAN class=622370014-11082004> One review was submitted by an 18 year old!! if we don''t get on due to our "looks", I''ll submitted a stinking review on the uk camping website. Thats no idle threat!! </SPAN> So, if they don''t allow groups of single lads in, single lasses in & it sounds groups of couples in even aged 30+, who do they allow in? Wonder what the other campsites around Pooley Bridge are like? Last time I was there [albeit 10 years ago] there were bike gangs etc = no problems<SPAN class=622370014-11082004> obviously changed for the worse it sounds</SPAN> <BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"><DIV class=OutlookMessageHeader dir=ltr align=left><FONT face=Tahoma size=2>-----Original Message-----

Personally I think it's quite good that the management is being a bit discerning about who they let in. If you are as respectable as you claim then you have nothing to fear.
All too often you read of folk having their holidays ruined by groups of young AND not so young people so good on the site management for making a bit of a stance. Perhaps though their methods are a bit questionable...........
