Just back from a site that charges an extra £1/night for dogs, but INSISTS you dispose of dog waste in a public bin 200yds down the lane - SO WHY THE EXTRA CHARGE!!!!!! T&C state a penalty 'FINE' for disposing of dog waste in site bins!

My local council did away with specific dog waste bins in parks etc. and specialist collection, years ago, it all goes in to general waste bins now, that is most certainly 'commercial waste', not domestic waste!

What about camp sites where PEOPLE use toilet buckets (saw dust/cat litter etc.) and dispose of human waste in general waste bins!!!!

If council really are charging for dog poo in general commercial waste, then it sounds like yet another money making scam simply because they can!

Once went to a site and just after setting up went into the folding camper to have a cuppa, and discovered I had walked dog poo into the carpet, it took ages to get out. Went outside to check and yes it was on our pitch just behind the camper. We also experienced many dog owners walking their dogs up and down the road alongside the row of pitches we were staying on to get their dogs to poo in the evening, despite there being a dog walk. Never went back to the site, never will, so lost income to the site. I can understand why some sites would want to deter dogs tbh, some dog owners have only themselves to blame.

Can't argue arthurdent, even as a dog owner, undoubtedly there are some very selfish inconsiderate dog owners out there, and they annoy me as much as any 'dog adverse' people!

My dog is well behaved, and well controlled on site, I really don't want her being a nuisance to anyone, but I've sadly encountered owners who are far less considerate!

If a site really doesn't want dogs, it's within their powers to make it dog free, but equally if they accept dogs, I really wish they'd enforce the general rules of no loose dogs etc., which is often where 'poo on a pitch' comes from!

No, the wording of the SUPLIMENTARY T&Cs supplied long after booking was made and a couple of days before arrival, was non-specific "additional costs" for depositing dog poo in site waste bins, this was also the first of any mention that doo poo needed disposing of off site!

I doubt very much that it was enforceable in any way, as it was not part of the agreed contract made at time of booking! And from the tone of the extensive (original and supplementary) T&Cs and penalties for transgression (being asked to leave with immediate effect was the stock one!), I don't believe it was implying that the site would suffer additional costs, very much suggesting they would be borne by the customer!

Far from the only unreasonable T&C! Site also required ONLY breathable awning carpets that were to be lifted for a period within 4 days use, when on a FULLY gravelled hardstanding! .... does gravel suffer if deprived of air/sunlight?

A few years ago, we were at a site, Where another camper on the opposite side of the field walked her dog to the back of our pitch. I had to speak my mind. Ok she had cleaned up, but her caravan was closer to the site entrance and dog walk than our pitch.

Agree with sprinterrover. The site we were on recently was clear that we must put the dog poo bags into the designated dog bin (at the designated dog walk) because the “general waste” bin would not be emptied if it had dog waste in it - though I can’t see how that’s easy to check, as it was a big commercial wheeled bin & goodness knows what was under the top layer. We weren’t charged extra for our dog but it was an expensive site.
Some or many of us dog owners pick up after other people’s dogs as we like to leave a place how we’d like to find it. We picked up at a CCC site recently: a dump right in front of the manager’s caravan compound gate!
