I am struggling to see the problem here.

The site sets out it's terms and conditions up front.  If you don't like them or they don't suit you the answer is simple.  Look for a site where the T&C do suit you.

Everyone accuses the site owners of being greedy and profiteering.  Well, welcome to the world of supply and demand.  Who can blame them for wanting to make a living.

Just a little tip for those of you not too far away - the English August Bank Holiday is NOT a BH in Scotland! 

I can see the logic for site owners in a minimum stay, particularly with folks often "adding on" days to a bank holiday weekend but, as Heath63 and others have said, it's horses for courses depending on individual choice (and budget!).

My own particular gripe is with the C&CC - their rule about minimum 2 nights' on high season w/ends is a real pain if I want to go south to visit relatives - if you've only got 7 nights and need to spend two at both ends of the trip, it's very curtailing.

Head to Scotland, seem like a good idea for the August bank holiday. Sounds like a great idea ficklejade.

No, in all seriousness I don't think they do. I've not complained about pitch prices, I'm happy for sites to charge what they see fit, people have a choice to go elsewhere, but if this trend continues and more sites adopt it there will be many people who won't be able to camp BH weekends as most only get 1 extra day off work, I can't see why people are missing that this is the point I am making.

But on the subject of price increases for BH's and school holidays, would it be acceptible to put the price of a loaf up on a Saturday because more people shop then? Or put a supplement on petrol during the summer months? Supply and demand.

That's the problem mcguire, when travelling abroad with the family.  Prices

rocket,penalizing many families from having a holiday abroad.  Hence why some take children away in the September, as it is the only time they can have a bit of R+R. together.

Legislation needs to be implemented to force these holiday companies and airlines to put a ceiling on the prices, so it is more affordable. 

Many will disagree with my comment, but it's my opinion plus the Govenment has been looking at ways for prices to stay down.     It won't happen

Camping is looked at a cheaper fun way to have a holiday.   Cheap, I don't think so, for large families.  Well not any more.  If the trend continues.  How ever can be done.   Takes alot of searching though.  

People are great in making recommendations.  Going by another thread,

Sometimes it's not the prices, it's having the time off, when somebody rightly said, it is only one extra day whoopy doo.

Yes there are going to be no shows, (deposit required) Yes, it's a buisness, people need to go on holiday, and need the punters, for the buisness to exit.   Otherwise, their would be no buisness.

I remember when I first joined,  members were waiting for the time, when camping becomes unpopular again, So things could go back to normal.

There are sites which I consider far too expensive.  Therefore will not go to them.  For me

I will only book sites, which I consider fair, for what is offered. and reasonable. 

So if I see a site which looks good,  but after paying all the extras, as everything is individually priced, making it rather expensive.  If there is another site down the road, same price, but offers more.  but still reasonble in comparable to others. decision is made.

If a site is rather expensive, has lots to offer, I may consider it for a few days as a treat, but if it has minumun nights, more than i'm willing to stay.  I just won't go there.  also If I have to pay extra on top.  Well, then it doesn't make the maybe list.

If there is another site, offers exactly the same, and may have to pay a small fee, but is cheaper.  Decision is made.

What about CS sites...? They generally don’t have minimum booking periods/fees. The only issue is the facilities will vary from site to site. You can find some real gems as they are generally run by families/farmers who have a small holding or piece of land used for camping. As long as you don’t want a clubhouse and all singing and dancing facilities they are fine. Generally very small as they are limited to 5 caravans/ tents.

Probably the only reason I keep my C&CC membership.

Holiday times do vary sometimes from county to county, sometimes here in Wales the holiday dates are slightly different to thos of England, some counties in England are also different to one another.

Unfortunately ALL businesses travel companies, campsites, hotels, B&Bs even our local farm shop have been 'hit' with increased costs to run the business, we tend to thinks of 'fuel prices' as simply putting in cars however the 'fuel increases' impact on all walks of life for example our major super market 'Tesco' charge more for a loaf of bread in our location ( cos it costs more to get it here) than it does in the midlands ( my families location). Gas prices are up esp for bottled gas, and if you run partly on Oil as we do then you are really slammed for the cost.  Even our electricity costs for both home and park increased by 80% two years ago - and we'd done nothing to the system and nor had they......

I agree with you heath63 the government do have an awful lot to answer for, but even then it is us whom voted them in....... caught between a rock and a hard place me thinks!

I was in Durham,cost of petrol per litre, was 10p more, than the Wirral.  I nearly died.

One site I go to in Wales, their holiday season tariff, co-inside with English hols. 

I still go though, because my son loves it there, plus I can get a discount.  But I will avoid the Bank holidays. I try to avoid the fri/sat/sun.  additional hike up.  I avoid the weekends.  Just think how expensive it would be. Bank hol, then on top weekend rate.  I should'nt say that.  It might give some campsite an idea.  Well not all. not that mean.

 It's not too bad as long as I don't need the ehu in the Summer.  It is one of my favourite sites.  Staff are friendly.

That's what I try to do Jakers, jiggle the dates around, when I go. To achieve the best value for money. 

Tony. parents already pay the fine to take children out of school; as it still works out cheaper, than the Summer prices.
