To those who don`t understand why I am complaining, let me explain. I have been camping for many years all over the UK and have never paid more than £28 which was for a top quality site at late notice (even then I thought this too much, but at least we had WIFI and leccy).

So, I saw an advert for a friendly club and thought what a great idea. At this point I had no reason to question prices. I wrongly assumed that they would be on par with other sites. I had no reason to suspect that a grass pitch with no electric was £38 - twice the going rate.

Selecting a CC site (Blackmore, the first on the list) the price for 4 adults high season would be £37.20 per night.

Pitch fee £8.80, plus £7.10 per head.

Though that does include EHU, and a hardstanding if the site is not too busy.

You need to use a site that charges per pitch.

The only time I've not had a choice of pitch on a C&CC site was at Corfe Castle one August and that was because there was only one tent pitch left. At Graffham they often show you the plan on arrival and let you pick where you want to go.

Any site that charges per person is likely to be dearer for families or large parties. Any site that charges per pitch is likely to be dearer for couples or singletons. As I never camp with more than 1 other person, the charge per person suits me fine.
