How tranquil and absolutely beautiful it looks. Your photos are pretty special, too! Thanks for sharing them.

Mange tak pingvin!

Hope you manage to persuade your oh to come over for a lovely break. I've been trying to convince my oh for us to visit dk but no luck so far this year ;o) Cheshire is on our list this summer.

Unfortunately Harris is quite far away from Denmark... On the other hand, I once made all the way to Skye, and the car and I survived... So maybe one day... I'll show the pictures to OH tonight...

Hi/hej, sorry for highjacking the forum just for a moment, I want to say welcome on the forum to mapletree, og hilsner til din danske OH!

Although I have a very nice camping holiday "at home" in Denmark this year, i already have withdrawal symptoms... I need to go to GB again next year... Maybe I can convince my OH that we should go to Scotland, take the ferry to Harris (he loves ferries and islands!)... I'll try not to mention the midges...

She can use her hair dryer! No EHU but there are power points in the block which contains the washing up facilities and information. Free to use - people charge up mobiles and plug in hairdryers, straighteners, etc. There's a mirror on the wall too so no problem.

Briliant photos Loved the remoteness, the beaches look stunning

Thought about and planned a whole trip last year Oban to Barra, Barra to South Uist and up through North Uist then to Harris and Lewis and back to mainland at Ullapool - copped out of it at last minute because of the bad weather last summer - then wished we hadn't as the Western Isles were the only place to have sunshine last June!

Planning for next year to South of France (1500 miles one way if we don't take the ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam) but having looked at your photos versus the what looks like hi di hi conglomerate of campsites and the thought of OH in Speedos makes the Western Isles look a promising thought again

Or mabye it will be Austria

Colleague who lives on Lewis did say that the best time to visit is in May and June for good weather. But it could be 4 seasons in one day

It's always a risk with the weather MQuinn and you could certainly end up with rain the whole time although we've been really lucky so far. What a shame you missed the good weather last year.

We're going over next week to Berneray and hoping to head down through the Uists as far as Barra. As my husband is coming with us it's bound to rain. He's already decided it will!

No need to tempt me I have been to Harris many times , is that Horgabost campsite, if so I have stayed there many times, I have also been fortunate enough to stay at Amhuinnsuidhe castle too whilst salmon fishing. I didn't pay though as my mate won a weekend there, through Trout and salmon.

Haven't been for a few years now but you have inspired me to get back up there sometime though.

Lovely, wish the weather was always that good up there, but still one of my favourite destinations.

Stunning! Sometime in the next few years I hope to visit both Skye and the Hebrides and these pictures have made me even more determined to make that happen
