I know im going to get hated for saying this but if you dont like the cost go somewhere else. No one is forcing you to stay on these sites.

That is all

Have to agree with the general consensus, im afraid- you arent being forced to pay for any of it. For every site with a pricing structure you dont agree with, theres another down the road who do it differently that you may find more agreeable.
We find a site we like, work out how much it will be for our requirements, and then decide if its worth it to us. If it is, we book and pay, if not , we start looking at other sites in the area.

Having said that, some sites do have peculiar pricing. One we looked at wanted £12 per night for the tent...on its own, and then a price per adult, per kid, per dog, per awning/gazebo, per car, for ehu, per pup tent etc...Now im not being funny, but our tent is not fetching itself there and pitching itself, i dont really see the point in that. So we found somewhere else :)
