Will we go through this rigmarole again in 2018 or will the CC now proactively look for somewhere else. I suspect schools and housing are a lot higher priority for the council, and if this site shows no sign of flooding in the next couple of years it will be another battle. What exactly did the CC do in this campaign?

They talked a lot off the record with the campaigners but because they were also talking to the council about finding another site they couldn't be too open about it.

In fairness to the Caravan Club they never will discuss information which is subject to delicate negoiations because it could put them at a disadvantage. I suppose we will never know whether what actually swung the decision in favour of keeping it open, albeit of a tempoary basis. Was it the local campaign, was it a local councillor who happens to be a Club member or was it the Club team or a mix of all three?

There was a big campaign led by a local businessman. It became obvious that the mayor had made the decision on his own, even the locl councillors for the area didn't know about it until after it had been anounced. It would have been a big loss to local businesses like the ferry, the Cottage Pub, and all the tourist businesses along that side of the dock - none of this seemed to have been taken in to account by the mayor.
I wonder if the mayor changes over the next few yars if that will be the end of it.

We're just home from another brilliant stay at Baltic Wharf. So pleased they were given a reprieve although the wardens did say it they could be given 3 months notice to close anytime on their new terms!

Let's hope not as we love it and many people do.
