Calm down Jakers you sound like my Mrs when she gets on her soap box and feels the need to list every expense our house has !
You ask what I am moaning at ? I think I should really be returning that question to you ?!?!?!?
Firstly I apologise that I over advertised your site by £2, please accept my accidental slip of the keyboard.
I think I may have touched a nerve with you Jakers. I certainly didn't mean to or for you to take my posts personally. I'm not trying to belittle the owning/running of a campsite. I'm sure its hard work at times and from what you say your site sounds very well maintained and reasonably priced. I am simply saying some sites out there are unreasonably priced and in my opinion take the mick. From what you have said I dont think your site fits in to that criteria.
To clarify, I think I did mention it earlier but If I didn’t I am talking about small, basic camp sites.
I’m not naive enough to think that any business doesn’t have initial outlays and running costs and thank you for outlining some of yours. I also know that use of a swimming pool, entertainment, bars, restaurants or other events have to be subsidised somehow but when there are none of these on offer and only a simple pitch, in my opinion it takes the mick. That’s £45 a night and I’m not even getting some 'Olly Murs' tribute act thrown in or even beer on draught ??!!
It’s my opinion that these sites know who they are and why they charge so much. They may have their arguments but I simply think its greed so I won’t be giving them a second glance.
So in a nut shell after explaining to me in depth about costs of running a camp site you then go on to say you are in no way defending sites that rip people off which is exactly what I am ranting about. Hence me asking what you are actually moaning about ?????
Anyway I think we will leave it there, you are right there is plenty of choice and luckily for me I go away to relax. I don’t need bars, restaurants and ‘Olly Murs’ tribute acts so I look for the more basic sites. Maybe ill just have to look a little harder and find the better ones. I only want a small patch of grass, an electric hook up and access to a tap but I wont be paying £45 for the privilege !!!!!
Take care.

As adminbob rightly states this type of thread crops up time and time again, sometimes it decends into site owners greed blah blah blah and for most that is far from the truth.
The phraseology "just a patch of grass" does infuriate me beyond comprehension when the work that goes into that patch of grass is simply not seen, your point about electric is an example... Yes we use the same national grid, but we are actually charged differently and have additional costs to get that electric to you.
Maybe contact the site directly you are interested in visiting and ask why they charge such a tariff? Is it the dog charge hiking the price...? Or are they the daylight robbers of the industry...
I actually enjoy these debates as it astounds me how little people are aware of how campsites operate so here I suppose i conclude with, happy camping one and all 😀
------------- If you can't beat em, join em, so we did! And then we sold it for a holiday let & Glamping pod instead 😁
