Just as much of a problem on campsites in recent times though has been the noise from one to six dogs from each and every Motorhome and caravan. Now getting rid of ours as we feel the self entitled dog folk have won.
Ginger2014, you joined UKCS to say all this. Why don't you use the Search tab and tick on the "no dogs"?? you need never stay on a site with dogs ever again.
But you'll never read this post & you've probably sold your 'van anyway.
Happy New Year.

Might as well avoid the entire East Side of the UK. We have been everywhere from Norfolk to John o groats and every site we stayed at has gas gun bird scarers placed near it. As an autistic adult such noise bothers me a lot. Just as much of a problem on campsites in recent times though has been the noise from one to six dogs from each and every Motorhome and caravan. Now getting rid of ours as we feel the self entitled dog folk have won. We just won't bother going on holiday any more as there is no "rest and relaxation" on a noisy site.
Welcome to UKCS Ginger. You don't give your location or how far you would want to travel but I would say don't give up something you've always enjoyed just because of other peoples' barking dogs etc. If you haven't explored the many features of this website yet then try using the 'camp site search' button at the top of each page - you can select an area and various criteria you want from a site, one of which is 'no dogs allowed'. Do give it a go before you consider giving up completely, I hope you manage to find somewhere which suits your needs

I have a very temperamental personality - 50% temper and 50% mental
Firstly, I am a dog owner, but I do feel more sites should have a no pets policy, or should I say perhaps a “responsible dog owner only” policy.
I reckon 50% of the dog owners who bring their pets to campsites have no consideration for those who do not wish to be bothered by dogs, and that includes owners with those horrendous, should be banned, extendable leads who allow their little tiddles to p**s on my jockey wheel!........
No, they didn’t do it again. 🤬🤬
I think you are more than likely to hear the gas gun type bird scare now, thanks to the likes of Pacham, rewild and Natural England. The latter being responsible for the general licence. Farmers have to show that crows and pigeons are a problem to their crops and then have to first employ non-lethal methods to move the birds on. The birds will move on to another field therefore the need to deploy another gas gun, and so on. This means the numbers of crows and pigeons never decrease but will only increase.
I live in the country so the gas gun that fires off every 20 mins or so starting at 7.45am and continuing all through the daylight hours doesn’t bother me so much, as I accept the farmer has a business to run but a person with a gun one afternoon would get better results.

If all is not lost where is it then?
No respite from them where I live. September to April on Rape,April to July on peas then all through august on cauliflowers so 365 days a year. Struggle to find anywhere on the Eastern side of the UK not afflicted by the damn things. I will never get used to the noise,I don't see how that is even possible. Even 3 grand on triple glazing was a waste of money, bought the van thinking we would get away for a bit of peace and quiet. but no chance...

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
A lot of those don't allow motorhomes or campervans though (narrows it down to 3), my tent days are over...
For a weekend away leaving on friday and returning sunday I'd not drive more than 100 miles each way.

I suppose if you live in a rural location you will no doubt encounter people going about their rural affairs..,pest control etc ?
