Belinda - lets try and get this right, as it is a route I would take without thinking, so will need to get my brain into gear.

When coming off the M57, take the A59 North as if heading towards Ormskirk, however, at the first set of lights just after Switch Island, turn left, (Car showrooms on your left).     Follow that road down until you come to what I think is the first proper set of lights - sign posted Sefton.    Turn left down here, and drive until the first set of lights, turn right, and follow the road down - past the cemetry, the Nags Head and the Grapes.    At the set of lights turn right, and then you are on the A565 again.    This again can be busy.

Problem when you know an area, is that you know 1001 different ways around, and even if they stick a new set of lights in, they don't register with you,  you still go the right way, although the roundabout is now lights etc.

Ooo ta - someone mentioned that there is a steep bit on the route???

No steep bit on that route

we made it and the sun was shining all the way!! The kids spotted the Blackpool Tower across the water and now are nagging us to take them there tomorrow!!!
