By mistake, (a) taking job you can,t handle, (b) treating adults who pay your wages as fools (c)  not accepting that other people may have had a bad day, and had a 3 hour drive on a friday which normally would take 1 1/2.

The life is pretty easy in the whole great shape of things , and I,m sure that if  my wife and  I could live off the wage ( which I can,t imagine being great ) we,d go for it .

The more I think about it the adage quoted  cannot really apply, as I think the original would apply to some one who worked with his hands, and not to someone who with his/her tongue could upset anyone.

Well Tim and I would love to be CC wardens we are thinking of applying in a couple of years time as semi retirement. Running a guest house we are used to customer service, ground maintentance, computer bookings and cleaning toilets!! so I think we would be ideal candidates!!

I think you may have misunderstood me. The mistake I referred to was the mistake by Gasman1256 when he tried to race under the barrier for which no good reason has been given.

As I said previously, the warden's job is not one that I would do for a lottery win. A suitable analogy would be that of the job of a publican.

You HAVE to present a smiling, happy face to the public at all times no matter what is going on behind the scenes. If you are incapable of doing that then frankly you shouldn't be doing the job.

That said, if the CC is training the wardens properly, the system should root out the bad ones well before they're let loose on the public.

Cheers!

Vic

This is absolutely untrue.  If the wardens are not up to scratch, it shows on here how quickly they are condemned.  They have to be up early and ready for whatever the day throws at them.  They have a site to maintain, H&S issues to observe and, most unpleasant of all, toilets and latrines to clean every day. And there are numerous duties, many of them clerical, which we do not see.   Their job requires them to be courteous at all times; very difficult if contact has just ended with an aggressively rude visitor.

Bertie.

Re the thread/threads about Wardens reserving"pitches for their friends"I think you`ll find on most sites that have seasonal pitches and van storage that when a owner notifies their proposed arrival the van is taken out of storage and put on site -not their friends at all.!!!!!On a Friday from 12`sh on ,especially holiday weekends etc a constant stream of vans are sited in this way Which is why a site is logged as full when to you it looks half empty

You do see some goings-on that don't quite fit in with the CCs published rules and regs though.

In Devon this year, there were two caravans close to us that were unoccupied on good pitches for over a week.  One of the vans was towed off the pitch after a week by the site staff, who then towed a different caravan onto the pitch - which he told us was for a relative to stay in.  The other caravan remained unoccupied for the whole of the 10 days we were there and all that time, the site was showing 'full'

The site in question does not operate any seasonal pitches and as far as I can recall, you are not supposed to have caravans on club pitches unoccupied for longer than 48 hrs.

It seemed to me that other Club members were missing out on pitches that should have been available for general use.

We have joined the Club this year and have just had our most recent 2 holidays in Caravan Club sites.

Fantastic sites, with helpful and knowledgable wardens so far. I was hoping to see the difference when we started using CC sites and so far we are impressed, as good as the best private sites we have visited and a mile ahead of most.

We intend to stick to the CC sites in future, with a few exceptions. And IF I ever get a bad warden or experience then the review pages are there for a reason.

But so far so good.

These posts indicate that there are widely varying views on preference for sites and how people have been treated.

Personally, I have decided not to renew my membership of CC. I have found the club sites I have used to be a little clinical in their layout and I prefer a more informal kind of setting. I have also found some staff a little lacking in basic customer service techniques which would enable staff to impose the necessary rules without making the customer feel uncomfortable.

I actually prefer private sites and have found many to be of a similar standard and cost to CC.

I will be staying with C & CC though for the CLs and because they offer discounts on their sites, which for me as a pensioner are valuable.

If you want CL's or CS's you would be better sticking with the CC there are about 1000 CCC CS's but there are 3000 CC CL's

Hi Bill

That is a good point about the CL/S but I still prefer the C & CC as I have found the CC not to my liking and often more expensive than private sites.

We paid quite £13.60 pn for a CC pitch last week when the private site next door was only £5 and the facilities were just as good, the C & CC site in same area would have been £8.90 pn. Now that we are retired and camping all year and are away for a lot of the time the savings will be substantial.

You are right that there are 2,500 with CC and only 1,200 with C & CC but I think we will manage with that number.
