oh dear and i thought we were on a friendly camping website here .Is it now turning into an anti caravan site or has it always been like this?Incidently ive just returned from a really nice site and a lovely holiday which was only marred by the people round us in tents who seemed to believe their tents were soundproof. What a noise!Perhaps its best if tents and caravans are put in seperate fields!

We too are new to C&CC, and have just returned from a brilliant holiday on one of thier sites at Kessingland, Suffolk. As soon as we went into reception we knew we would enjoy our stay, very friendly managers who gave us a very warm welcome. Facilities were immaculate, we think there were more tents than caravans aswell. We are definitely going back there next year, if you want to know where it is, it is next to Suffolk Wildlife Park, bit spooky hearing lions roaring at night only about 200 yds from your tent.Although the loos were closed for cleaning during the later part of the morning, when most people were off site anyway, there were other facilities available. What we couldn't understand was why do people pay all that money for a caravan with posh loos & showers, yet use the onsite facilities. We saw this happening on quite a regular basis, the mind boggles.

We have our own facilities to enable us to use the minimum facility sites (CL's and CS's), but use the site facilities if they are there.  After all we have paid for them and it gives a chance to have a natter over the washing up!

We belong to both CC and C&CC and have found that wardens generally are friendly and helpful, but they do get stressed at busy times.

Maybe thats a good idea to have a field for tents only, then we would not have to put up with the noise of you lot putting up your beds up everynight and hearing your TVs until the early hours, yes we know tents are not sound proof but caravans are and we still hear you, this is a friendly site and we are all have our opinons and if that upsets some people well then that TUFF luck.

the best c&cc site in cornwall and i would think for tents has to be tregurrian just out side newquay, it is walking distance to the beach they have two camping areas on either side of  a small quiet road. both have toilets showers ext., the field without electrics has stunning views towards newquay and you can see the sea. i really like this site and we have been using it for about 10 plus years. we still go there even though our sons no longer come with us. there are many fabulous beaches in all directions and although this area is very busy in august. you will still enjoy it. the nearest beach is watergate bay where you can have surf lessons and hire boards. or just enjoy the beautiful beach. this site is always full and you need to book early.

Anyone remember the bloke at c&cc Horsley last year, he really had it in for tents, oh and fishermen too, which was good planning as his site had both.

Rather ironic too that the club's 7am no noise rule, was broken by him shouting across the lake at two fishermen who dared starting setting up at 6.45am.

We've just come back from our first weekend on a c&cc site, strangely enough they had a notice in the reception window saying "no caravans allowed"

The site was over the road from a beautiful beach and just outside a village. The only draw back I had with it was the fact we were put on a pitch that sloped uphill to a wall, so we had to put the tent sideways because of the slope, I ended up using the stove on the floor because the slope was too much for the table and everything we put on it slid to one side, bit like being on a boat in a storm really!  I noticed that along the front where its flatter the motorhomes got that area. The site was just about empty and there were flatter areas so I dont know why we where put where we were.

I am aware kick off time is midday but on both occasions the site was less than 25% full when we were leaving. Is this how it always is are the Wardens not allowed to use their discretion.

Yes, of course they are.  It says in their Rules "If the pitch is not required immediately by new arrivals, where possible campers may be allowed to stay on a pitch until 5pm in consultation and agreement with your Site Manager."  I've done just that, with no problem.  But you do have to ask first, not just stay put!

We are members of both CC&C & CC  and have stayed on a dozen or so of their sites ..... never left before 12 noon and never been hassled by wardens .......

Agree with Humble ...... the wardens at Horsley are great ........ only iffy time we had was at Crowborough, when our Grandson was poorly (both ends) and wanted to go home just before 11pm ........ the female warden was not best pleased at keeping the gate open while we packed the van .... so thro everything in - drove out the gate - then pulled up by her house and sorted bikes etc on the carrier ... and left diesel engine running   17
