I was at a small CC site beginning of May, in a tent. In total there were about 30 pitches, no overnight warden.
A group I had mentally earmarked as likely to be troublesome (a couple of families, several cars, kids and dogs) were all tucked up quietly by 11.30pm.
Next to me were two middle aged couples in a caravan and awning. At 11pm they were socially chatting, but as the time wore on (and presumably the levels in the bottles went down) the voices got louder and louder. They were still sociably chatting, but I think there's a rule of nature which says the more you drink the louder your voice becomes! This continued until 1am when car doors started slamming (I think they were car doors, but there were so many of them I think it was actually an old fashioned charabanc parked next to me) and for a while there was so much "activity" noise I thought someone had come on site and was starting to pitch a tent - I poked my head out, but sure enough no tent just the foursome next door.
Being on my own I didn't have the courage to challenge them, but it just goes to show that it isn't necessarily the people who you think are going to be a problem that actually are. Or, putting another way, another lesson in don't judge by appearances.
Stayed on a large, family filled site last weekend and all quiet by 11pm. So the type of site isn't necessarily a guarantee of a peaceful night either.
