Try the campsite search in the Message Boards. The reviews will give you a realistic view of what people thought of the site. Should be plenty of options there. Happy hunting!

The lake district is your oyster!

And North Wales is within reach.

What about Northumberland there are a few sites near Bamburgh Castle which is  (the castle that features in Harry Potter) set on a gorgeous beach and appears to sit on the sand dunes. Loads more sights to see and you could even visit Newcastle Quayside (I recommend you contact Northumberland tourist information)you could also move over to Keilder in the forrest (with man made lakes) so have a twin centre holiday. It shouldn't be too much over the hour it depends where in Lancs you are.

Northumberland is v nice but not within an hour of Burnley!  We went to Seahouses last October and it took us about 4 hours from Accrington in Lancs.  I'm sure there will be plenty of bigger sites in Cumbria that will be near a lake but we tend to stay on smaller CL sites.  Also I can recommend a really nice one on the shores of lake Bala (Glan Lyn) in North Wales but from Burnley it would probably take a couple of hours dependent on traffic.  There are some nice sites out towards Skipton - Gallaber Park is one that we have stayed at.  Not in a forest but plenty of good walks around there.

Nor sure about the lake and forest request but within and hour of Lancs you have North Yorks, we have stayed on the CC site at Knaresbourough (no lake or forest) with loads to see and do nearby.  We will definately be visiting that area again and we drove past lots of sites.  I am sure you would find one to fit your criteria.
