Castlerigg Hall Caravan And Camping Park is one of our favourite campsites - has great facilities and is in a wonderful position, halfway up the fellside with cracking views over derwentwater and Keswick. Terrific walks can be had directly from the site.

Depends slightly on what you are after in your visit to the lakes. We find Windermere rather dull and full of coach parties. If you are going for the hill walking then sites near Ambleside, Keswick and Ullswater are much better placed. One to avoid would be the site in the centre of Hawkshead. Nice village but we thought the site was over priced, noisy and very boggy when we were there.

i suggest you go to a little village called Pooley Bridge. We went there last year it has lots of campsites around and sits on the shore of ullswater. :)

OMG it looks lovely but I have just looked at the prices for Park Cliffe?

For my Montana 6 with extenstion I would be £ 33 a night!! thats a abit steep.

£10 surcharge for tents over 5 metres in length.SHOCKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bet there is not a surcharge on double axel caravans..

At that kinda price you may as well have a private bathroom at £12 a night.

Yep that's the lakes prices for you!! avoid Windermere if you can, pricey and not so nice anymore. Much better off near Keswick if you want to relax.
