hi, i posted a thread about finding a campsite that wouldnt mind us having a few drinks and playing music n stuff but sounds like thats not going to happen. is it legal to camp in parks or woods? where isnt it legal? any help would be great thanks

It's illegal just about anywhere without the landowner's permission. Most forests in England are maintained by the Forestry Commission and they have a big list of byelaws preventing just about everything except walking on the designated footpaths!

You may get away with it on the upper slopes of Ben Nevis

You could try phoning round some of the small sites and ask them. We used to have one years ago that could only take 5 caravans and tents which was only full in the summer hols. If you're thinking of going before then you may catch one with only a tap and hole in the ground that would be willing to fit you in.

Put on a post asking for the worst campsitre people have every stayed on and why. Look for the answers that say they didn`t sleep all night `cos of people playing music, drinking etc, then book in there....................simple!

maybe try booking in a more commercial place? one like butlins or something, with lots of late night entertainment? or more generally a big site? and pitch as far from others as possible? then surely no-one can complain if you're not bothering anyone?

You could try campsites with rally fields or if you have some facilities (ie portapotti / spades) you could ask the local farmer for a corner of a field?
