the first seven photos are taken from the airfield apron, the next five were taken whilst sitting outside the tent on the campsite, and the last photos were taken from the public grandstand on the saturday

Try Rutland and the surrounding areas - you have RAF Cottesmore and RAF Wittering practically on the doorstep with Harriers flying from morning til late at night. Go for a hop over to Lincolnshire and you have RAF Waddington for AWACS and RAF Coningsby for Eurofighter and Jaguars RAF Scampton for Red Arrrows.
Ynys Mon (aka Anglesey) is great for RAF Valley Hawk flying and if you are staying in the mountains of Snowdonia you could be fortunate to see them racing through Star Wars Alley!

Obviously, an aviation meet is required. Who'd have thought there'd be so much interest?

Hi Mick, we very often go over to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, near to Tattershall, great campsite nearby. As you probably know the Typhoon Eurofighters are based there and are in and out all day long, sometimes taking off in 3 and 4s, also a few harriers, you can literally sit in the parking area at the end of the runway and they do pose for the public, its brill we love it. Have a look mate you wont be dissapointed. Regards Gaz
There's actually a CC CL site just beyond the eastern end of the runway, I've even been on there with my tent, but I was guest of a motorhomer. Smashing little site but it doesn't appear to be listed on here. If you're interested email me and I'll try to find out about it. Just remember that the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is based at Coningsby too, and you can see the Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota. Often flying but generally on static display anyway.

Try some of the sites near to Holyhead Anglesey, not actually visited them myself, but the reviews mention a lot about the planes flying over from nearby RAF Valley.
Hope this helps

You could always have a trip out to Blackpool/ Lytham St Annes(There is a meet sometime in June I think) the airport normally has an air show although I 'm not sure when it is this year. The airport has commercial and private planes/helicopters taking off all day and there is a BAe site very close by and we often see the Eurofighter out and about, aswell as the usual hawks and tornados.

Just come back from a very very soggy Kings Mill campsite in Castle Donnington. For any one following this thread, this is a good sitefor watching planes coming in and taking off. Not that close to the airport but good views if you're into that type of thing!!
Thanks for all those who reccomended it!
Mick
