Am looking for the above- qithin reason as to the quiet bit. The rational being fewer famillies and fewer children- don't mind older kids 8/9 yrs ish- not against either but like my camping on the quieter- rougher more basic side. I love Stonethwaite but would like to add some other sites to my repetoire
Thanks
Louise
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
You could try The Ashes at New Hutton, it's adult only. We tried it last year. It was a small and very peaceful site, but caravan only. The site was kept very clean and tidy, as were the toilet/showers. It is very handy for both the lakes or Yorkshire Dales. If I remember rightly it only has about 20 vans, all hardstanding. Have a look at the website http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2592
you could try the old post office at santon bridge, We love this site as you probably can read in my reviews. it has 35 pitches of which 5 are for caravans and are furthest away from the toilets. The toilets are basic but clean and there is wash up facilities. The original owners have sold the site now and there are new people there but i have not been since they took over so i can't say if anything has changed. Its also a brilliant site for walking if you want to.Wastwater is 2 mins away and the start of the scafell ranges.
Herdwick Croft, north end of Bassenthwaite, is quiet and spacious but I think the facilities are quite a long way from the tent area (we stayed there in our caravan).
