The law states you must have a minimum of 3 metres clear space between your caravan, awning, gazeboo or tent and your neighbours.......and if the pitches are not marked, this should be made clear to the holidaymakers.

At Watergate Bay the year before last, we came back after a day out to find that a group of youngsters had pitched thier tent so that the guylines were actually pegged UNDER our caravan!

We could,nt get to the side for filling up water, empty loo etc.

I went to the office and complained, but the girl behind the desk didn't seem at all interested, stating that they paid for their pitch and could put the tent where they like, whereby I quoted the the 6M ruling as described in their own brochure, and then asked her if she would like to contact the local council and fire Dept and ask them.

Within 5 minutes of leaving the office, the site manager arrived at the pitch, and was clearly heard demanding that they move the tent, and the second car that they didn't declare on the booking!

As you can imagine, we got some pretty dodgy looks for the rest of the week, even got called a stuck up mare when I went out to the loo, but rules is rules eh

Hi

When we go to Golden sands at mablethorpe the man there comes with you on his bike gets his piece of rope out measures the 6m and tells you where to pitch. The last time we were there he told someone where to pitch their tent and when some of their party arrived later and pitched another tent he made them move it and this was at 8-30 at night.

cheers

steve

We stayed on the site at Sedburgh a couple of years ago and were told to put our van on quite a small area of concrete where there were already 2 other caravans. We tried to point out to the owner that we were far too close but she was not interested. It was expensive too, we only stayed 1 night, I wonder why?

I am finding your replies fascinating. It would appear that some do,some don't.As merlina40 said "rules is rules". Indeed but not just for fire safety but much more for our general comfort.I can't think of anything worse than being so close to the unit next to you, surely bordering on claustrophobia!!!!

Keep it coming Guys!!!
