Hi Jacquie, Try this site in my home town.
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=sandhaven&by=sitename
The site doesn't have a clubhouse but it is opposite the (award winning) beach, with a good choice of pubs around (the New Crown, The Sundial, The Marsden Rattler - which is a converted train!), and is only a ten minute walk from the centre of town. If you like curry, there are loads of restaurants on Ocean Road and a large Asda is only 5 minute drive away.
The site is also next to a large park with a boating lake and there is a reasonable sized funfair opposite that.
Plus, around the area is the Metro Centre, Newcastle Quayside, Beamish museam, and a re-built roman fort within a 10 minute walk of the site.
Come and enjoy South Shields (there is a photo of the beach on my personal gallery)

Thanks everyone for your replys,
Carol, Mabon and John and Tracy- dont really fancy going to any haven parks, have been to blue dolphin, haggerston castle and berwick before and we loved them but we want to go somewhere that we have to entertain ourselves and the kids, without the amusements and shows.
Bernie- Love the look of East Ord, but have tried to book and it is fully booked on the dates that we want. But will definetly be trying there in thee summer.
Janis and David- Cant find a link for whitewater park, if you have one could you post it for me please.
Fatlad- That sites a bit close to home for us as we live in North Shields and it is just across the water. Should have said were we were travelling from. But its a place to remember when we want a practice run with our tent before we use it as our garden is too small.
Thanks again everyone.
