Hi, I'm planning on doing a leisurely 3 Peaks - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Be camping one or 2 nights near each.

Anyone have any recommendations? Accessibility to the mountain is important.

I've stayed at Llyn Cwellyn (or whatever its called) which is very convenient for Snowdon but is a bit boggy with mega midges so be interested in somewhere better round there.

Having said that, mountains + July = midges so probably cant avoid that aspect.

Anyway any suggestion very welcome

Thanks - Tom

When we did a leisurely 3 peaks we stayed in B&B in fort william.  We stayed in a camping field by wasdale, just near to an easy path up scafell pike.  For Snowdon we didn't have to worry as we live nearby.  Wasdale was a great place to camp, remote but within walking distance to the pub at the head of the valley.

for scafell i would recommend wild camping here at great moss, the best place to camp is in this meander, the water is safe to drink and wash in!

For Snowdon, it will depend which route you are planning on doing.

For Rhyd Du Path, Forestry Commission site at beddgelert,

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2828

for Ranger/Rhyd Du path there is a small bunkhouse/campsite just outside Rhyd Du

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3913 CwellynArms campsite

For Watkins Path, Cae Du http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=5252

For Llanberis path  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=4631&map=on#maphere

There are also a number of small tent sites along the LLanberis Path road, which we noticed when we visited recently, but I din't know the names.

I've stayed at the Forestry commission site and Cae Du att Beddgelert and would recommend both.

There is also a Snowdon Ranger bus which will pick up and set down at the different paths.

Jules
