my girlfriend and i are looking for a campsite in central scotland, maybe argyle and loch lomond areas, can anyone recommend any sites, we have a little tent and are looking for great scenery, a nice quiet area to just enjoy our surroundings, maybe a couple of nearby pubs we could walk to and preferably near water as in loch lomond.
also are there campsites that do not allow goups as we dont want this at all, its only our second time camping so we are complete novices.
thanks in advance

hi there, we camped at Ardgartan C & C club site just over a year ago and it is lovely and quiet with beautiful scenery. It is not far from Arrochar on Loch Long and is within the Argyll National Park. The wardens were very friendly but I'm not sure if they will still be on that site. The other site that was recommended to us but we haven't tried ourselves is the Luss site at Loch Lomond. I have just noticed that you have to be camping and caravanning club members to use these two sites. Other sites we have used in Argyll are Glendaruel Caravan Park which is near Dunoon and the Argyll Caravan Park which is in Inveraray, both of which I would highly recommend. The only site that has a pub/eating place on site is the one at Inveraray but you are far enough away not to hear any noise and it is not far from the water.
We are just back from a week at cobleland lovely little site just outside Aberfoyle it has a cycle track next to it so you can cycle in to Aberfoyle or about 10 miles from loch lomond if you are into cycling. You could just walk there as its only about a mile and has about several walks from the campsite too.
it is a forest holiday campsite just put it in google they also have a campsite at rowerdenen on the banks of LL
Hi, I also love the site at Ardgartan, great walks from the site but a couple of miles from the nearest pub. The Luss site is beautiful as well but a bit too near the road for my liking - but it is very nice and a short walk to a couple of pubs. Cobelands is a very nice site as well, my very first camping trip was there and had a great time!

Not been there before...is that not over more to the East Coast?
I am booked into Blair Castle (Blair Atholl) for the end of May, can't wait.
Have you tried looking at the campsite search on here....loads of sites with good reviews to help.

Hi just back from Blair Castle and it was great. Loads of walks from campsite and 2 mins from a couple of pubs. Not far from Pitlochry but far enough away from 'big town!!' feel of Pitlochry!!
