We are looking to go away in August either of the last two weeks and would like to hear some good campsite recommendations. We are two adults, one child aged eight, clean shower block/toilets a must, and possibly rustic childrens play area, we like quiet family sites but with nice places to visit in the area and a decent pub serving meals nearby. Any where in the UK considered sugestions greatly received.

Deers Glade in Norfolk is very nice. Has what you are asking for plus very nice showers - well kept site etc. We went last year and are going again at Whitsun break. We also enjoyed Kelling Heath (Norfolk) - much larger with pool etc., altho we didnt use it. Lots of lovely walks too.
Dolbryn nice, though you do need a car. Site is fantastic for young children, play area, field for ball games, ducks, rabbits, goats etc. Toilets and showers first class.
Wood Farm at Charmouth in Dorset. Near Lyme Regis etc. You don't say if you have tent or caravan but they take both though tent pitches are limited. Stayed at Easter and had a great time.

Also, this one is good. Fab play area and you could eat off the floor in the showers they are so clean. The best site showers I have ever had the pleasure to use.
