sorry not tried the touring site, we had a chalet a couple of years ago, the swimming pools are great, food ok but pricey, people friendly and helpful and overall we had a great time and are thinking of returning to the area with the tent.

Hi Sue, We had our maiden caravan outing to the 'new touring section' for a long weekend this easter.

The park's ok (not as good as it was when it was Butlins!) but the touring area is poor. The pitches are small and shoe horned in between the challets and statics. Some of the pitches are level but the one we were allocated wasn't and not having a leveling system we ended up perched on bricks (which we had to find ourselves)! The toilet/showers were fairly clean (not spotless), it's a portacabin! There are only 3 showers in the ladies. They are free and there are free hair dryers too, although not apparently in the Mens. There's only 1 elsan point.

You may remember, as Butlins there was a free train and cable car ride to the beach. Well both these have gone making access difficult, its a long walk from the touring site, and nearly impossible with a pushchair as the paths are steep and once you're close-ish to the water, loose shingle and slate.

The on-site food is very expensive, we paid just under £15.00 for 2 burgers, chips 1 drink & 1 ice-cream from Burger King on site, that was the only time we ate out.

We loved it as Butlins, but Haven have replaced most of the site with static caravans. We won't be going back.

Anne

We went to a chalet there two years ago, and would not go back.   It was the pits.   We'd hired a chalet as Richard has his hand in a splint following an op - and needed help with showering/dressing etc.    Went to use the pool and asked for the disabled changing, and were pointed in the direction of a loo.    The waves didn't worked, and according to somebody else, hadn't worked all week.  Neither had the rapids, or half the water fountains.    Went to get a kids meal in Burger King and were told they don't do them, only the larger burgers.      One of the food outlets did not display prices (against the law).    The only thing that I could say for it, was that the children's entertainers were first class.
The chalet was not well equiped - half the stuff that was meant to be in it wasn't.   The bronze standard caravan we stayed in at Greenacres (before we got our tent) was better than this silver chalet.

Yet we've stayed in a chalet, and camped twice at Lakeland in Flookborough, and stayed in a chalet at Greenacres, and have no complaints about those site.    At Greenacres we were right next to the touring pitch, which although small was spotless, as by all accounts was the shower block.

I'd go back to Lakeland, and would try Greenacres and have my eye on a trip to Haggerton Castle - but was not impressed with Hafan Y Mor.

not quite sure what haven are playing at with this one, we phoned about pitching a tent there and were told it was tourers only cant quite see much of a difference really, however we stayed in a static there last march and it was the worst holiday we've had ok so it rained all week but that wasnt important the caravan carpet was soaked from them cleaning it and we had to keep our shoes on all week even our toddler, the food was awful from the takeaway, the facilities were dirty the only redeeming feature for us was the swimming pool which is great for kids plenty to do. it really was a much better site when butlins ran it.

might as well part ex the house for a tent we spend more time in one
