or lakes for next weekend. We have just bought our first tent but due to delays on various orders arriving, we haven't booked a site for next weekend. We really want to go somewhere and the kids are really excited but all the sites we have tried so far are full. We need a pitch for a large tent with ehu for Sat and Sun night. Can anyone help?

I would agree with the above recommendation for Flower of May, but I had a bad experience at Crows Nest, and would never go back (drunk teenagers racing cars around the site at 11pm, and site staff did nothing to stop them).
Have tried Flower of May this morning but no luck. We are looking for somewhere fairly quiet and not too far from home in case it's a complete disaster lol. Thanks for the replies, will keep trying.

Cayton Village is friendly and quietish site (about 4 niles south of scarborough). Staff really helpful when we've been there. At this late notice you may end up on the big camping fiedl at the back of the site (rather than the pitches within the main body). This is absolutely fine unless its very windy as the field is fairly open. Then again if its bad it dont matter where you pitch

------------- It'll work out in the end!!!!
I didn't do it !! Nobody saw me do it !! You can't prove anything !!
have you tried woodhouse farm? - just outside ripon ..its in winksley, cracking place with things for the kids to do and a restaraunt & bar on site...they should be able to help you out...
have tried woodhouse farm - we are booked to go there in August, but all full for this weekend. Is our own fault for leaving it so late, but being new to the camping life, we didn't realise how popular it is. Is looking more likely that our first night in our new tent will be in the garden lol. Will try Cayton Village - thanks for the suggestions

Have you tried round where I live (Kirkby Lonsdale) it would put you between the lakes and north yorkshire. Some names of places to google for sites:
Crooklands, Endmoor, Kirkby Lonsdale, Ingleton....... I know that there is one called waters edge round the corner from me. I think you may find availability if you are prepared to then travel from site to the popular places. Most places are booked up in the actual "tourist" towns.
what about Vale of pickering http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2778 they have a big rally feild, I know its a very nice site because we now go every year for this weekend coming up and its never full. look out for the pirates !!!
