Hi,

Looking to camp at the Great Langdale National Trust Campsite situated near to Ambleside in the Lake District.  Just a coupe of questions if anyones been before:

1. We'll be arriving at the latest 6pm next Friday (bank holiday weekend) - the site is a first come first serve basis so I just wondered if we're likely to get in at this time given such a busy weekend.

2. Their website says vehicles have to be parked in a designated area 'away' from our tents - just wondered if this was for certain parts of the campsite or does everyone have to do this, don't fancy leaving my car out of sight.

Any info would be great, thanks

Hi never been to this site but have you thought of going to their other side next to windermere....some friends of ours go there and they manage to park their vechile by their tent......I would suggest giving the site a call and speaking to the warden.

We went to the NT site at Gt Langdale a lot when we had a tent (had a caravan for last 2 years and they don't take them).  We once went on a Thursday night before a Bank Holiday weekend and by 2pm on the Friday afternoon the site was full.  Luckily we had a 12 man tent and our friends who could only come on the Friday managed to sleep in our tent with us.  As the forecast is good for this week (so far) I wouldn't chance being able to get a pitch at 6pm on Friday.  As for parking, it is around the edge of the camping areas so not too far to cart your gear.
