Hi

Looking at going to Blackpool for a week end of July and dont seem to find many family sites etc. Is it better to go near Blackpool or say go North Whales?

I have 2 small kids so more for them to do the better on site.

Scott

You could contact any of these - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=blackpool&by=town

Theyre all in/around blackpool and tell you what facilities are available (check with site first though).  I find the 'reviews' section really help to get a more realistic idea of whats there and what to expect.

we stayed at this site last october

 http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2280

I agree with one of the reviews, it can be a little boggy (but so are most areas around Blackpool), although you should be ok in July, the toilets were quite old, but were always kept clean, we arrived in the dark, pouring with rain and very cold, but, the warden was there in the rain helping us to set up , the site has a small shop, ok for the bits you have forgot.

It is around a 10 - 15 minute drive into Blackpool.

We would go back to this site again, as you have said, not many around the area, the largest (if you want pubs, chip shops, pools etc) is:

 http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3518

we have not been to this one.

 The closest site is:

 http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=4553

this one is right in the centre of Blackpool, i think that it gets booked up very quickly.

Hope this helps and you find the site that you are after, must admit that it was our 1st visit to Blackpool in a few years, very disappointed, but the kids loved the pleasure beach, in fact so did I.

Hi,

The Caravan Club site is nice and you always know that everything is clean.   The site is on the outskirts of Blackpool but it ease enough to get into Blackpool.   The site only has a kids play area nothing else....but Blackpool does have loads to offer for a family......  Stanley park is great plenty to do there and the Zoo which is across from the Park.... if you have any Tesco club card vouchers you can use them for a deal at the Zoo, Pleasure Beach and the Tower.   The beach at Squires Gate is nice it is actually in St.Annes it is backed by the dunes and St.Annes is nice it is quieter then Blackpool.   Other site in Blackpool are Hampton Road which is 5 min walk from the prom at South shore very near to the Pleasure Beach but has no play area for kids but their is a park next door (Watson Road Park).   The only site in Blackpool with full kids programme is Marton Mere which is British Holiday run park it is in a nice area but unfortunatley some of the reviews aren't great and prices can be high.  The site mentioned at Lytham is a nice site but if you want to spend your time in Blackpool you would be doing alot of travelling.  Lytham itselfs has nothing for kids but is a nice place.  Kneps Farm at Thornton is very nice and next to Stannah Country Park.....the country park wardens do have activities on for kids in the summer months.   There isn't that much in Thornton apart from the Mill which you can look around..... Cleveleys is nice and Fleetwood has a swimming pool and other basic seaside entertainment.

If you need any more help or info just ask.

You do need to book early for the CC site at Cropper lane especially when the illuminations are on
