I agree with one of the reviews, it can be a little boggy (but so are most areas around Blackpool), although you should be ok in July, the toilets were quite old, but were always kept clean, we arrived in the dark, pouring with rain and very cold, but, the warden was there in the rain helping us to set up , the site has a small shop, ok for the bits you have forgot.
It is around a 10 - 15 minute drive into Blackpool.
We would go back to this site again, as you have said, not many around the area, the largest (if you want pubs, chip shops, pools etc) is:

this one is right in the centre of Blackpool, i think that it gets booked up very quickly.
Hope this helps and you find the site that you are after, must admit that it was our 1st visit to Blackpool in a few years, very disappointed, but the kids loved the pleasure beach, in fact so did I.
