Hi All,

I'm not looking for a discussion on the pro's and cons of taking dogs camping, I think we all know that's been done.

Just wondering if everyone can share their best dog friendly places, e.g. Sites, beaches, pubs, tourist attractions etc.  They are not always very well advertised, and some places say they are and then have no facilities e.g shade, water etc. 

Also where to avoid.

First dog free and second dog 50p, thats more like it. We hav booked a weekend at Kelling Heath and they charge £4 per dog, we have 2 dogs so £8 a night, i think thats taking the pee.

Hi Kyms, Web site www.dogfriendlypubs.co.uk is helpful. Nodes Point, Isle of Wight is a nice site for dogs, dog friendly beach right outside the gate (£1 a night for dogs)Kelling Heath is good but a bit pricey at £4. Cayton Village nr. Scarborough has a very big field for the dog walk and you can take them in the nearby pub. We've been to some lovely sites where our dog was welcome, It depends what area you want to be really.

Not at Kelling this weekend, The next time we are there is the last weekend of June/ early July, if you are there then let us know and we could walk the dogs, perhaps take them to the pool for a swim. LOL.

Some friends enquired about Kelling the last weekend of May and was quoted £75 for 2 nights camping, well steep prices, Dogs went up to £5 for the night per dog. What a rip off.

Thanks doghouse, that's realy useful, you've obviously visited quite a few sites. 

 I am not just interested for mysef, I thought it maybe useful for most people with a dog, sometimes the `dog friendly` listings on google aren't really that friendly.  I have seen the Eden Project listed as dog friendy (not on Eden Projects own site) yet dogs are not permitted inside the Eden Project and the only facilities for dogs is a wooden car shelter, there is no way I would ever consider leaving my dogs all day in the car, wooden sheter or not!

That does sound expensive, we are paying £38 this weekend for Sat & Sun night with 1 dog 4 adult 2 chidren (under 2), electric hook up and an extra car, I didn't think that was too bad. 

As for the pool, from what I've read we woud have to get there really early, it's a one in one out policy, maybe if we fill it with dogs we can keep out the others LOL (Fred, my dog, is a really good swimmer, he does hydrotherapy for his hip dysplasia)

We recently stayed in the New Forest at the Red Shoot site and while the site facillities are no better for dogs than anywhere else the New Forest area is doggy walking heaven.

The site is in the heart of the forest so just step foot outside the gate and go wherever the fancy takes you, and the Red Shoot pub at the entrance is a great place to eat and drink with your 4 legged friend (they even have a bowl of dog buiscuits on the bar)
