Hoping to go to Grizedale Forest in August with the family (2 children 8 & 10). Can anybody recommend a suitable campsite?

HI

We went to Bowkerstead Farm Campsite 01229 860208 and had a fantastic time.  But it depends on what you want from a campsite.  This is a working farm so the site is a field (good and flat) or if you have a smaller tent it has an area in the woods.  Toliets nice and clean, hot free showers.  Free wood (chop your own) for campfires.  Owner really frendly let the kids feed the lambs.  Horses in field next door (has a riding school as well).  River the kids paddled in next to field, Kids are 4 and 6 spent the time climbing walls/trees, paddling, feeding horses, exploring woods.  Can see pub from field (satterswaite) fantastic food, kids allowed in to 9pm.  No noise as too far for that.  Grizedale forest is 1.5 miles away and this is like camping there.  Grizedale visiters centre is fantastic.  They have a massive outdoor wooden play area that the kids can spend all day at.  Tip - dont park at the centre you pay and its really busy.  1 mile from the centre coming from the camp site is a stop called bogels crag (part of the forest).  Park there walk through the woods 1 mile straight to the centre.  The walk isnt hard you dont need walking shoes etc my 4 year old did it no probs.  Also there is a 'go ape' in Grizedale but you have to be 10 years.  Looks fantastic.  Im origanally from the area (lincolnshire now) so if you want to know any more just ask.  But as I said this is for people who want to feel like the are camping without the extra e.g entertainment, music etc.  If you want the full on entertainment swimming pool etc, I would recomment lakeland caraven park, check out reviews.
