Hello,

Hope someone can help.  I am going for a short break at the beginning of June and want to camp in or near to Stratford Upon Avon.  I know there is a site on the main road in but cant remember what its called.I have searched the web and found three sites.  Can anyone tell me the best site nearest to town.  Is there a site in walking distance of town?

Any info would be a great help.  Thanks in advance.

Graeme

The racecourse site is the one you need, quite large and 15 min walk into town, facilities are O.K. but I dont think it as a shop for basics, may be wrong.  Only problem check first because about June 8th there will be a massive motorhome show there and it will be quite crowded and fully booked.  kiev

UKCS campsite search shows these

We stayed at Monks Barn Farm with Mr Mrs Meadows for many years and there are some lovely walks through the farm and surrounding countryside.

Its a good mile by the shortest route into Stratford.

Sadly we  no longer go there as increased infirmity makes it too far for my wife to walk.

Riverside is more commercial but operates a water taxi into Straford and is also walkable.

Don't miss Welsbourne market on a Saturday---biggest in the country they say !!

Depends what unit you have got, the one that you are talking about is the one at Tiddington, Riverside caravan park, that one does not take tens any more.

This one is a good one right next ot a sat market

Can't find it in the search under its name or town but there is a very nice farm site with fishing at Snitterfield that takes tents as well.

Its called High Close Farm and covers a large area

They take tents

Its on the way to Stratford from the M40 at the fork between the A46 and A439.

Its near to the big Mercedes garage.

Its listed in the C & CC book and its also listed as a noted geological site.

Its not unusual to find fossils on the site.

Stones not campers

The racecourse site is the cheapest and also the nearest to the town. There is a site at Wellesbourne where the market is as mentioned above.

That's the one John, have you been there? If so, did you have breakfast at the flying club? I used to live a few miles away at Kineton when I was growing up and my best friend lived at RAF Wellesbourne. You can see her old house from the flying club.

Haven't stayed there but always go to the market at Wellesbourne and the car boot at Long Marston when in the area.

We usually go to Warwick and/or Stratford 2 or 3 times a year

Don't think we will be going this year, unless for a day as we are only 60 miles away.
