Hi all

I'm new here and have been looking around. We are trying to find a campsite near RAF Fairford for the Air Tattoo in July. I have tried searching but not coming up with anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try these : --

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3818

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=south+cerney+&by=town

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2912

but they get  booked up quickly!

or they usually open a field at the end of the runway for camping (which I think is 1st come 1st serve) or there ring the RIAT and they may help you

Here are a couple to look at that you may find useful, the site that we use is sold out for 2007 so no point listing that

in the past we have stayed at totterdown farm which is a temporary site that overlooks the airfield and only has very basic facilities, that is why we have changed sites for 2007, I have no contact details for totterdown farm but it is a good site if you don’t mind portaloos and cold showers

Thanks all.

Most places do seem to be booked up but I've found a field with portaloos, drinking water and that's about it. It's not Totterdown Farm but seems to be a similar setup. We're only camping for one night so it should be fine.

hi,

why dont you see if cotswold hoburne, its near south cerney , have availabily then as its the 22nd july? so should not be overly booked up i hope, not school holidays until about then or a week later?.

they take caravans and tents, i have stayed the best site or one of the best you could get apart from the v low ammpage hookup as everyone was tripping out, this was feb half term though and i was the only 1 using a tent, very stupid i know but i enjoyed it as much as everyone else.

look at their website its amazing better than some well known holiday sites, theres a jacuzzi, afternoon and evening entertainment, stuff for kids.

under 4s i belive theres still a ball/pit climbuing area and thats free, same sort of thing you would pay 3-4 pounds for elsewhere.

probs about £25 for july but worth it for 3 nights which is probs their minimum booking so £75? for caravan 4 persons or tent?

oh not far from fairford, sorry nearly forgot can get there in say less than half an hour easily.

The one thing with Fairford and one of the reasons we make do with temporary sites with basic facilities is the close proximity to airfield

The site that we are staying at this year is just a couple of minutes walk from the entrance to the airfield so the car stays parked up for the whole weekend and the site that we have stayed at in past years has a great view of the runway from the campsite so no need to even leave your tent
