hallo,

we're planning to take our 3 small children (< 5, short legs) camping for the first time this summer, with tent. I think distance to beach (even 10 mins walk) will make a big difference.

Any particular favourites or recommendations gratefully received, anywhere in England/Wales.

Frellaro you could try Par sands in Cornwall, it's right behind the sands dunes on a really beautiful beach. I haven't stayed at the site but we used to live near there and went to that beach regularly, the camp site looked lovely though.

Wisemans Bridge in West Wales is literally yards from the beach. Also the Wisemans Bridge Inn on the seafront serves food. Other bigger beaches (Tenby and Saundersfoot) a short car journey away.

I dont think you could get any closer than Beadnell Bay caravan Park, beadnell, Northumberland. The site is on the other side of the sand dunes, 10 seconds from beach. You can actually pitch in the sand dunes, they ahve 4/5 pitches in the dunes!

They dont accept tents though. Only caravans/ motorhomes.

I'd second Wiseman's bridge. If you're taking buggies, you can stroll through the tunnels to Saundersfoot.

Freshwater East is another one.

I can vouch for Par Sands. Have spent most summer holidays there except for the past two years when the boys need surf.

Its a great place for the kids - served well by village amenities and pubs.

Miss going there.

We've just come back from Cleethorpes, Thorpe Park, a Haven Site, which has direct access to the beach. Didn't think it would be my cup of tea but with teenagers to please and it only being for a weekend, thought we would give it a try. It was better than we thought, there was plenty for them to do which kept them our of our hair. Whilst they went off and did there own thing, we walked along the seafront into Cleethorpes, which is 1.5 miles away and was a very pleasant walk, there's a cycle path if you have a pram to push.

Brean Sands is great for the kids & Warren Farm site is 5-mins walk from the beach

i would say cornwall have a look for a site near or on porth beach.,

We stayed here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1206 on the overflow field (No EHU). 2 min walk to the beach. Facilities were average then (about 4 years ago) but reading the reviews they may not be that good any longer.

It was a nice spot though. We had a tent back then so it was back to basics camping.

We went to Mother Iveys Bay in Cornwall, which has its own beach however weather was bad, but it was a great place if the sun was shining. I also liked Peppermint Park in Dawlish, you walk along the road to the beach, it takes about 10 mins. Both campsites were nice.
