I went to look at this site for reference while in the area as I wasn't sure whether Hillhead was still going to accept tents as it now belongs to the Caravan Club.

Firstly what puts me off with most of the sites in this part of Devon area is the roads - the map shows then as A roads but a lot of them are more like country lanes and windy.  If I remember correctly this one as a very bad bend near a house which is was almost at right angles (if you get what I mean).

The site is a large field with housing around it, didn't look at the toilet/laundry facilites but there are some - I think for a shop etc they want you to use the village amenities. It looked well kept and clean, but not my cup of tea for 2 weeks.  My nerves wouldn't stand the driving in and out of the site everyday.

So for me I'm staying put at Hillhead, roads are relatively quite and proper roads!, excellent facilities and even when full in main peak season doesn't seem rammed! Yes its dearer than most - but for 2 weeks I need some luxury.

Hillhead CC site is great and think you don't have to be a member to book but rather expensive. The roads are a problem all around Torquay area, always jammed!
