Nice camping and caravan club site in Keswick on edge of lake within walking distance of shops and pubs ( Keswick is very dog friendly I think).Parkfoot at Pooley Bridge is within walking distance of the village and Ullswater and has good facilities for tents.

Have fun ,

Irene

Park cliffe on East side of Windermere is lovely. Excellant pub and restaurant on site. Nice and clean and surrounded by scenery. 10 min drive into Bowness but far enough away so it doesn't feel like Blackpool!! Stayed there lots and going back soon.

Bardsea Leisure near Ulverston is lovely - wonderful loos with heated floors. Nice walking area with shaly beach nearby. Short walk to co-op or pub and 5 mins drive from local supermarket.

We love it there

I have to agree with Shirlz! Park Cliffe is a fantastic site, we stayed there for 4 nights at Easter. The views from the top of Moor How are breath-taking (it was breath-taking climbing it as well but well worth the effort) and the boat trip from Bowness to Ambleside was another highlight.

try the croft in hawkshead.  grizedale forest nearby is great for walks and easy reach of ambleside.  Hawkshead has some pubs too and a well stocked co-op.

I just looked at their website and there`s NO WAY I`m paying a surcharge of £10 per night for a tent over 5 metres long. I`ll go to another site!

We've been to the quiet site, near Ullswater a few times, and liked it .

 http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2923

Some nice walks from the site ,well stocked shop on site , and also an olde-worlde , little pub on site.
